Cox’s Bazar
Cox’s Bazar is home to one of the world’s longest natural sea beaches, an unbroken stretch of sand running roughly 120 km along the Bay of Bengal in southeastern Bangladesh. It is the country’s most visited coastal destination, known for its wide open beach, sunset views, and easy access from Dhaka by air, rail, and road.
How to Reach
By air: Cox's Bazar Airport (CXB) is about a 1-hour flight from Dhaka's Shahjalal International Airport, with daily service from Biman Bangladesh Airlines, US-Bangla Airlines, and NovoAir. By train: The Cox's Bazar Express runs direct between Dhaka and Cox's Bazar (opened December 2023), covering roughly 551 km in about 8 hours. By road: Several AC and non-AC coach operators (Green Line, Shohagh Paribahan, Hanif Enterprise) run direct buses from Dhaka, taking approximately 9-12 hours depending on traffic and road conditions.
Safety Notes
Strong rip currents affect parts of the beach, and drownings are reported most years in unguarded areas. Swim only in zones marked safe by lifeguards, avoid swimming alone or far from shore, and take rough-sea warnings seriously during the monsoon months.
