Sajek Valley
Sajek Valley sits high in the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Rangamati District, known locally as the ‘Queen of Hills’ for the clouds that roll through its ridgelines below eye level on clear mornings. The valley is home to Bawm and Pangkhua indigenous communities, and the drive up from Khagrachhari climbs through terraced hills and small villages before reaching the ridge-top resorts at Konglak and Ruilui Para.
Because Sajek sits within the Chittagong Hill Tracts, travel is coordinated through armed escort convoys at fixed times of day, arranged locally rather than booked in advance. Network coverage is limited across much of the valley.
How to Reach
By road: Take a bus or private car from Dhaka to Khagrachhari (approx. 6-7 hours), then a local jeep or CHT-permitted vehicle up to Sajek (about 2-3 hours further on a mountain road). Most visitors travel via Chittagong first by air or train, then continue overland to Khagrachhari.
Safety Notes
Sajek lies within the Chittagong Hill Tracts, where non-local visitors travel in escorted convoys at set departure times coordinated locally. Mobile network coverage is patchy. Mountain roads are steep with sharp turns; only travel with licensed local drivers.
